| Welcome to the Genetics Laboratory.
Our facility is part of the University of Oklahoma
Health Sciences Center. We provide clinical testing for
OU Physicians, OU Medical Center and many other
medical providers across the United States.
The genetics laboratory provides
comprehensive services in all types of chromosome and
molecular studies
including congenital disorders, prenatal diagnosis, and
hematologic/ oncologic disorders. We offer CGH array testing as well as sequencing for NF1/SPRED1,and 59 other disorders.
We have
become a referral lab for Diagnostic
Laboratories of Oklahoma, Norman Regional Health
System, Mercy Health
Center, Integris Medical Centers. and Midwest Regional Medical Center. We
also participate in the National COG studies.
Beyond clinical testing, the
laboratory also conducts research in multiple disciplines,
including congenital heart defects, Marinesco-Sjogren
syndrome, Dandy Walker syndrome, and molecular characterization
of unique chromosome
rearrangements.
As part of our committment to
education, our laboratory hosts pathology residents
and hematology fellows during their rotations. We also provide training
to students who are working to obtain their Masters
degree in Genetic counseling. During the summer we
instruct participants of the summer programs such as
NARCH and SURE.
The last thirteen years have been
an exciting time for our faculty and staff. The
lab and clinical services continue to expand and
yet we
have
not waivered from our focus on education and research.
We will continue to further our knowledge of human
genetics so that our patients can benefit from
what we have learned.
